DFI Day 3

Recap from last week - 'Keep' is working well. Really enjoy this function.

Today's focus is media - looking forward to Youtube session and the Slides App idea for my classes.

CREATE - Hook! Definitely an area I am looking forward to working with - personally I struggle with creative thinking - can write well and read a huge amount but lack creative talent in other ways. Really want to learn how to turn the key with creativity for my classes, finding a way for them to take pride in their learning instead of just getting it done to get me off their backs. Having 2 ex-teenagers - 25 & 21 and 1 nearly - 19 - I do get that - but just trying to light the fire is at times excessively draining.

Youtube channel - Mischiefs - created two playlists - one for Geography on Climate Change and one for Foundation - Kaitiakitanga. Think this will be really useful in all classes.

Google Draw is going to require a great deal more time to get really familiar with the features. Really easy to get overwhelmed by all these pathways. Finally got the About me on my Blog - so bloody proud of myself.

Really pleased I managed to complete this task - perserverance pays off!! So What did I learn this week - Playlists on Youtube - legend!! - This is going to make my management way easier in classes. Sorted my Blog out - managed to embed the About me - awesome. My confidence is growing. Slide ideas are awesome - many great things to take back to the classroom - looking forward to sharing with my students!!

  5. Kia ora ano Julie,
Looks like you are going ahead in leaps and bounds! I wonder if the 'key' to creativity with the age group you teach can sometimes be them choosing how they present their work. And as you become more confident in using the different tools in your classroom practise the students will also feel confident to say 'can I do show my understand as an animation, google drawing, screencastify etc. It always give us a big buzz as facilitators when we teach junior classes and they are blown away by being able to change the size, colour or font of their names in Google Drawings... high school age students are a much tougher crowd!
